Ertugrul and Osman Ghazi

Ertugrul Ghazi:

"Diriliş: Ertuğrul" (Resurrection: Ertuğrul) is a Turkish historical drama television series that aired from 2014 to 2019. It is based on the life of Ertuğrul Bey, the father of Osman I, who founded the Ottoman Empire. The show follows the adventures and struggles of Ertuğrul Bey and his “Kayi” tribe as they defend their land against various enemies and establish a foundation for the future empire.

"Diriliş: Ertuğrul" gained significant popularity not only in Turkey but also in various countries around the world, thanks to its engaging storyline, historical context, and well-developed characters. The show received acclaim for its production values, action sequences, and portrayal of Turkish history and culture.

The Mausoleum of Ertuğrul Ghazi is located in a town called Söğüt which is about 230km from Istanbul and is very popular destination for visitors including tourists from other countries.


Osman I, is the sone of Ertuğrul Bey, also known as Osman Bey or Osman Gazi, was the founder and the first ruler of the Ottoman Empire. He was born in 1258 in the region of Söğüt (present-day Turkey) and died in 1326. Osman I is considered the progenitor of the Ottoman dynasty, which would go on to rule over a vast empire stretching from Europe, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa for over 600 years

After the death of his father, Under the leadership of Osman Bey, the tribe expanded its territory and gained prominence in the region. Osman Bey and his followers gradually conquered neighboring territories, including Bursa, İznik, and Karacahisar.

Osman Bey's reign marked the beginning of what would become the mighty Ottoman Empire. His military successes, organizational skills, and administrative reforms laid the foundation for the empire's future expansion. Osman Bey's rule is also characterized by his efforts to unite various Turkic tribes under his leadership and his promotion of Islamic principles.

It's worth noting that the TV series "Kuruluş: Osman" (The Ottoman) is a sequel to "Diriliş: Ertuğrul" and focuses on the life and reign of Osman Bey after the events depicted in the previous series. "Kuruluş: Osman" follows Osman Bey's struggles against rival factions, his establishment of the Ottoman state, and his efforts to expand its territory.
